In May 2025, NYSNA nurses at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) voted to opt-in to New York’s nation-leading Paid Family Leave program, which provides job-protected paid time off to care for a new child, to be with a family member with a serious health condition, or to assist when a family member or loved one is abroad on active deployment.

While management at ECMC initially agreed to provide this life-changing benefit, they’ve since gone back on their word. One year later, nurses still don’t have access to Paid Family Leave. This is unacceptable.

Every day, frontline nurses at ECMC work hard to care for Western New York’s most vulnerable patients. When their family members and loved ones need them most, nurses deserve the job security and paid time off that the Paid Family Leave program provides.

Show your support for nurses by signing the petition and demanding that ECMC management make good on their word and implement Paid Family Leave!
